JULY 2025
It is hard to believe we are already halfway through 2025. In less than a month, a new school year will be upon us. What a gift these past six months have been. We have seen and experienced the work of Christ in our lives in tangible ways. The Lord has time and time again shown Himself faithful to us as we have remained faithful (though imperfect!) to following Him and His lead for our lives.
At this midway point, I hope to bring us back to our purpose. As many of you know, we began the year wrestling through the first question of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, which asks: What is the Chief End of Man? The question reverberates throughout hundreds of years of history, begging the question: what is my purpose, individually, and what is our purpose, corporately? The answer these church leaders concluded, and I believe remains, is “To Glorify God and To Enjoy Him Forever.” John Piper modifies this with helpful clarity in his book Desiring God, where he wrote, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” In a very real sense, we glorify God by enjoying Him, and we are called to do this not on our own, but together.
As we take a brief look back and look ahead to all that’s in store, may these words remind us all of our calling to glorify God, to find our joy in Him, and to do so together—now and forever.

adult discipleship
Although small groups are taking a break for the summer, the adults of CCM are still connecting through fun activities! Back in May, the men attended a Braves vs. Dodgers game and have gathered for a few Friday morning breakfasts this summer. Be sure to sign up for the Men’s Cookout and Cornhole night on Sunday, August 17th!
In June, the women enjoyed some delicious Greek food and got to know each other a better through a hilarious game of Empire. This Wednesday, July 16th we are having a craft night led by our craft queen, Lindsay Simpson! Please register on the events page to let us know you are coming!
We are so excited to jump back into adult small groups this fall! Registration for all Groups will open on July 27th and remain open until August 24th! Please visit the Community Groups section of our website to register.

England
At the end of May, a team of 18 young adults participated in our annual mission trip to Hatfield, England, where we partnered with YoungLife. We had an incredible week helping to run BASH Camp, a day camp for students, many of whom didn't have a relationship with Jesus. It was a truly special time filled with team bonding, serving, and the amazing opportunity to share the gospel. We're grateful for the experience and the impact it had! Thank you to everyone who prayed for our team and gave financially to make this possible.

City Youth
City Youth has been having a blast this summer! Our students have been enjoying plenty of fun park games and an exhilarating zip-lining adventure together. A new school year is right around the corner and we can't wait to kick off our weekly small groups again on August 17th!
As summer winds down, we're getting excited for our fall retreat, "Encounter," happening August 8th-10th with Redeemer Students. This retreat is for all students currently in 6th-12th grade (for the 2025-2026 school year). Encounter is designed to provide a unique opportunity for students to step away from their routines and encounter the Lord in meaningful and memorable ways. It's also a fantastic chance to build and strengthen Christ-centered relationships with fellow students from our Marietta community and beyond. We love our students and can't wait to see how God will move and work in their lives through this retreat! To register, please visit our website. As always please reach out to Liv O’Kelley with any questions about Youth as well.

City Kids
This summer in City Kids we have continued to walk through the Old Testament, specifically studying “Land and Loss.” We are exploring how, despite God’s provision and victory, the Israelites’ disobedience and sinfulness led to loss and a need for a greater Redeemer. These lessons highlight God’s faithfulness in providing for His people, His seriousness about sin, and His ongoing plan of redemption through Jesus Christ.
On Sunday, August 3rd, we will have a fun Back to School kick-off as well as Promotion Sunday. You will receive an email if your child is being promoted to a new Elementary classroom. Babies through Preschool students will be promoted during the year at their birthdays.
We are always looking for more people to volunteer with us in City Kids! As our church grows, so does our Children’s Ministry, along with our need for additional volunteers. If you are interested or would like to learn more about serving please contact Lindsay Simpson, our City Kids Preschool Director.

Staff Spotlight
We are thrilled to announce that Nicole Meriwether will be joining our staff as our City Kids Elementary Director. Nicole, who studied Early Childhood Education at Kennesaw State University, has prior professional experience working with children in both school and church settings; most recently serving as a preschool teacher at FPC Marietta Weekday Preschool. Nicole and her husband Brad have been attending City Church Marietta for the past six years, serving faithfully in many volunteer roles. The Meriwethers have three wonderful kids, Drew (16), Haddie Kay (13), and Luke (11). Please join us in praying for Nicole as she steps into this new role!
